Influencer and Mom of 2 Dies at Age 27 After Choking on Food During Dinner with Her Family
Influencer Carol Acosta has died at age 27 after choking on her meal during a dinner with family in New York City.
Acosta’s sister, Katyan, confirmed her death on Instagram, per a screenshot captured by the Daily Mail. The post shows Acosta — who was known to her 6.7 million Instagram followers as Killadamente — smiling in a selfie.
“I love you sister and I will always love you,” Katyan captioned her photo tribute. “I give thanks to God for giving me a sister like you with your big heart. Rest in peace my sister.”
The Mirror reports that Acosta died after she began to choke at dinner and had difficulty breathing, per a quote from her cousin. They added that Acosta “had an attack of some kind” and was taken to the hospital, but doctors weren’t able to save her.

According to her family’s GoFundMe page dedicated to raising money for funeral costs, Acosta died on Jan. 3.
In addition to her initial confirmation post, Katyan spoke more of her sister in a series of Instagram Stories posted on Sunday, Jan. 5. Speaking in Spanish, Katyan explained through tears that the family is not yet sure what caused Acosta’s death, and they are waiting on the results of tests.
In another post, Katyan shared a heartfelt tribute to the late mother of two. “I know you will always be with me my sister, my partner and my best friend forever,” reads an English translation of Katyan’s message. “I love you and I will always love you.”
The grieving relative also included a link to the GoFundMe site. A description on the fundraiser page remembers how Acosta “managed to help thousands of people through her work,” and continues, “On this occasion we join together and ask for your help to give her a farewell as she deserves.”

Fans of the fashion influencer flocked to the comments on her recent posts to mourn her death.
“It is with great pain that I say goodbye to you. I’m so sorry you left so soon,” one person wrote. “You will be greatly missed Killa. I will never forget you. I love you. Fly high my beautiful girl.”
“I will always carry you in my heart,” read another comment. “Thank you for always being you, I love you queen, RIP.”
